Trailin' Behind

So I just moved and am living by myself for the first time so you know what that means...
I CAN DO WHATEVER I WANT!

Oh, you too tired to do dishes? Do it next week!
You want to start a gross compost pile in the front yard? GO AHEAD!
You want to hang a Topsy Turvy Hot Peppers Plant? LIVE YOUR DREAM.

What used to be the view you see when you enter the trailer:
Scott, the resident who used to live here used this area as a work desk space, and there's a florescent light classroom like fixture on the ceiling.

What you see now when you enter the trailer:
I painted the walls Charcoal Grey, which was supposed to be close to Ralph Lauren's Witching Hour color. I'm not that picky though, my closest source of any house work is Wal-Mart, a witching hour away. The advice was that it would look good with a white trim, which I haven't gotten around to painting yet... things always get done so fast on TV shows haha.

I was really proud of this chair lift (get it? haha) I spray painted the wood gold and upholstered the chair with about 0.5 yards of this cotton flower fabric from again, Wal-Mart (please don't judge me), and regular staples over the old mauve fabric. I think it's staying for now, I'll keep you updated on its staying power.

I fell in love with this gold chrome elephant at T.J. Maxx last night. From an episode of Secrets from a Stylist (Contemporary Afro Glam or something), I learned that elephants should have their trunks up. Well, the pink spray painted lamp also has its trunk up in certain areas, making it super topsy turvy but that's more descriptive of life and I'm all about channeling life within lamp fixtures.

And I decided to be UBER cheap and get 4 frames from the dollar store and printed out on the laser jet some pictures of places where I've lived and this nerdy rock paper scissors thing. Just don't look too closely at the detail.

And I really miss my cousin's house in LA and in their bathroom was the American flag, so I hung it up as a room divider. Also a little gold light switch cover :)

This is what the kitchen cabinet looked like before:

And this is what it looks like now:
I just painted the bottom cabinets. It took forever because I had to do 3 coats of the semi-gloss in black after priming the cabinets. Not to mention taking them off... the screws were so sticky haha. But in the end, I love it. I have some red pots and kitchen accessories so the accent drawers were a fun addition.

And that's my first time doing any kind of house renovations/furniture/decorating anything! Onward to the living room and the bedroom and bathroom.... or maybe just wait until I get somewhat settled in a city.
